The Faculty of Engineering was one of the founding faculties of Çankaya University, and started its educational mission with two departments: Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering. With the establishment of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering Departments in 2011, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department in 2014 and Software Engineering Department in 2019, the number of departments in our Faculty has reached seven. In addition to the undergraduate programs of our departments, there are also 11 graduate programs, 9 of which are master’s and 2 of them are doctoral.

For the success of the programs, our faculty has excellent academic staff who are experts in their fields of study with proven scientific backgrounds and experienced in teaching. At present, the teaching staff of the faculty comprise 14 professors, 12 associate professors, 20 assistant professors and 19 lecturers and research assistants. The number of undergraduate students per teaching staff is 31.

The faculty possesses several laboratories for innovative teaching and training, and provides appropriate science and research facilities for building the engineers of the future. We have a total of 45 laboratories, 31 of which are dedicated for teaching while 14 are research laboratories.

The undergraduate programs of the Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering departments, which are the first departments to commence education at our faculty, possess MÜDEK accreditation and the EUR Ace label since September 2013. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments applied to MÜDEK to be evaluated for accreditation in the 2022-23 cycle and were awarded with MÜDEK accreditation and EUR Ace label in September 2023. The diplomas of the departments holding this certification are recognized worldwide. The accreditation process which ensures quality assurance in the education program has also been implemented in other departments of our faculty. These departments will soon apply for MÜDEK accreditation as well.

The medium of instruction of our departments is English. Many of our courses consist of two parts: theory and practice. In addition, the students are provided with internships in the summer months in order to gain practical skills. The main design experience, which involve the engineering standards and realistic conditions / constraints (such as environmental problems, sustainability, manufacturability, economics, ethics, health, safety, social problems) is gained through the senior year graduation project courses where the knowledge and abilities gained in the previous courses are utilized. The topics of a significant part of the projects are determined to meet the needs of industrial organizations, and are carried out in the related industrial organizations.

Our faculty, which aims to train entrepreneurial, creative and leading engineers, has awarded about 5200 bachelor of science degrees as of November 2024. Some of our graduates have started their own business. Others work in reputable companies, institutions and organizations.
