The Faculty of Engineering was one of the founding faculties of Çankaya University, and started its educational mission with two departments: Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering. With the establishment of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department in 2001, Civil Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering Departments in 2011, Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department in 2014 and Software Engineering Department in 2019, the number of departments in our Faculty has reached nine. In addition to the undergraduate programs of our departments, there are also 12 graduate programs, 9 of which are master’s and 3 of them are doctoral.

For the success of the programs, our faculty has excellent academic staff who are experts in their fields of study with proven scientific backgrounds and experienced in teaching. At present, the teaching staff of the faculty comprise 14 professors, 6 associate professors, 37 assistant professors and 29 lecturers and research assistants. The number of undergraduate students per teaching staff is 27.

The faculty possesses several laboratories for innovative teaching and training, and provides appropriate science and research facilities for building the engineers of the future. We have a total of 48 laboratories, 33 of which are dedicated for teaching while 15 are research laboratories.

The earlier departments of the faculty (Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering Departments) were awarded MÜDEK accreditation first time in 2013. Second round MÜDEK evaluation was held for Computer Engineering and Industrial Engineering in 2018 and these departments were re-accredited until 2023. The diplomas of the departments which hold MÜDEK certificates are recognized all over the world. The other departments of the faculty have started their preparations for this accreditation process and are planning to apply as soon as they reach a sufficient number of graduates.

The medium of instruction of our departments is English. Many of our courses consist of two parts: theory and practice. In addition, the students are provided with internships in the summer months in order to gain practical skills. The main design experience, which involve the engineering standards and realistic conditions / constraints (such as environmental problems, sustainability, manufacturability, economics, ethics, health, safety, social problems) is gained through the senior year graduation project courses where the knowledge and abilities gained in the previous courses are utilized. The topics of a significant part of the projects are determined to meet the needs of industrial organizations, and are carried out in the related industrial organizations.

Our faculty, which aims to train entrepreneurial, creative and leading engineers, has awarded about 3200 bachelor of science degrees until today. Some of our graduates have started their own business. Others work in reputable companies, institutions and organizations.
